Council President Riley Cross and Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips told the Union City Borough Council on Sept. 16 that Municipal Lot #1 has sinkhole damage requiring immediate repairs. Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips said Mansfield will fill the sinkhole, replace approximately 10 feet of pipe and install a new catch basin before smoke-and-dye testing is scheduled.
Borough Manager Cindy Wells said the borough is awaiting quotes from JT Patching and Paving and Cross Paving to repave the affected area and the catch-basin area in Municipal Lot #2. Businesses in the area and the Union City Volunteer Fire Department will be notified before smoke testing begins, Phillips said. The council did not take additional action beyond approving routine motions related to operations at the meeting.
