Danville selectmen approve $214,835 for temporary road repairs

The Town of Danville Board of Selectmen voted unanimously July 13 to approve $214,835 for temporary road repairs, repeating the same patching method used last year.
Jimmy Seaver, Danville’s road agent, told the Board he will finish the end of Back Road and make temporary repairs on Pine Street and Long Pond Road, describing the fixes as “band-aids.” Seaver presented paperwork and a cost estimate of about $214,835. The Board noted $50,000 in encumbered funds already earmarked for Back Road and moved to approve the full repairs contingent on verification of the encumbrance balance.
Vice Chair Shawn O'Neil made the motion to approve the suggested repairs, and Selectman Joe Hester seconded; the motion passed unanimously and Chair Annemarie Inman signed the paperwork. Selectmen said they understood many roads need work but emphasized the town’s limited funds; Vale VanDoorne-Freeman, the Selectmen’s administrator, said she would check the relevant budget line numbers to confirm how much remains encumbered.
The Board directed staff to verify the encumbrance accounting before releasing the full amount and to proceed with contracting the patching work once the figures are confirmed.
