The Union City Borough Council voted Aug. 27 to accept a $16,679.00 quote from Construction Services of PA to install a canoe and kayak launch at the designated area of the American Legion ball field, contingent on receipt of an easement from the American Legion.
Manager Cindy Wells reported two quotes were reviewed: Blum Property Services, LLC for $18,541.50 and Construction Services of PA for $16,679.00. Because the project cost was below the $23,200 bidding threshold, bids were not required. Councilor Osborn moved "to accept the quote of $16,679.00 from Construction Services of PA for the installation of the canoe/kayak launch at the designated area at the American Legion ball field"; Councilor Kerns seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Councilors conditioned the award on obtaining the easement. The project is intended to improve public access to the borough’s waterways and may be scheduled for construction once the easement and any required permits are secured.
