Board hears safety report on playground rocks, AEDs and student emergency trainings

The board received a safety committee report from a staff member responsible for safety (Speaker 3) who relayed a student complaint that "the rocks are on the playground" and said the committee had asked students to submit a written request describing needed changes. The report said AEDs were found in their cases and currently functioning, but some are older and should be budgeted for replacement in the coming year.
Speaker 3 also said a student-focused emergency training day is scheduled for Jan. 15 with four rotating stations—Stop the Bleed, Narcan, hands-on CPR and a health-occupation career talk—covering middle and high school students. Staff and board members discussed staff certification, NFHS considerations for coaches, and ensuring Narcan and EpiPens are available at multiple building locations.
