Councilman Washington introduced Resolution 36‑14 to name the Carver Park basketball court for Tony Galbreath; Parks & Rec superintendent Charlene McArder said the park board recommended the recognition and presented the matter to council.
A longtime acquaintance urged the council to adopt the honor, and councilmembers voted in favor. The resolution was declared passed by voice vote. "They was gonna put a sign, but I said I suggest why don't we put on the court his name?" a supporter said in urging the designation.
