Sweetwater County authorized staff to submit a fiscal year 2027 Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) grant application to the Wyoming Department of Transportation seeking $400,000 in federal funding to apply magnesium chloride dust suppressant on prioritized county roads. Grants Manager Christina Marshall said the project’s total budget is $500,000, requiring a $100,000 (20%) county cash match that was included in the FY2027 grants projects budget.
Marshall said the proposed road list covers approximately 73.52 miles identified by a public-works committee and estimated the cost per mile at $6,801. She said the county is applying for the maximum allowable amount and that the project must be completed by Dec. 31, 2029. Commissioners moved and unanimously authorized the chairman to sign the related resolution and application documents.
