Sweetwater County accepted a FY2027 combined federal and state victims-of-crime grant award totaling $104,093 to support services for crime victims. Grants Manager Christina Marshall told commissioners the funds will pay for two part-time victim-witness coordinator positions (working with an existing full-time coordinator in the county attorney’s office) and associated software; the total budget for those positions and software is $132,266, leaving a county overage of $28,173 (about 21%).
Marshall said the county’s overage was already included in the FY2027 grants projects budget (including a 5% health-insurance rate increase provided by HR data) and that any cost savings would be returned to the county portion. The board moved and unanimously accepted the grant award as presented.
