The board approved a progress payment and a change order after contractors discovered a buried pit and drainage problems while working on a county project.
The county engineer reported contractors "discovered the buried pit that was in there that needed to be dealt with and ... filled appropriately," and said change order #1 covers removal of debris, remediation of the pit and repairing or extending stormwater drains. The engineer added that tile and underground features were uncovered and the contractor extended the stormwater system to address the issue.
A supervisor moved to approve the progress payment and change order as presented; the motion was seconded and carried with aye votes. Staff said the work is necessary to keep the project on schedule and to ensure proper drainage and site safety.
Board approval authorized the county to pay the contractor for the work covered by the change order and proceed with the remediation described by the engineer.
