Engineering: Western Rock picked for Iron Springs Road work; lights and MOU remain

Richard Wilson, Iron County Engineer, told the commission that the intersection work on Iron Springs Road is nearly complete and that Layton Electric still needs to install lights. He said Western Rock was awarded the bid for building and reconstruction out to Desert Mound and expected to start work on or about July 7. Wilson said the Engineering Department signed a memorandum of understanding with BZI covering BZI's portion of the project, which "offset[ted] Iron County's responsibility by quite a bit," reducing the county's financial obligation.
Wilson also highlighted stormwater and drainage successes, reporting that a 36-inch culvert installed across 4800 E performed as expected during a recent heavy rain and prevented standing water on 2525. He thanked staff for their work and said the project coordination would continue with Western Rock ahead of the July start date.
