Oakdale council awards Willowbrook Fields restroom and shelter contract under estimate

The Oakdale City Council voted to award the construction contract for the restroom and open-air shelter at Willowbrook Fields to KA Witt Construction. Public Works Director Corey Tietz told the council the city received nine bids and the lowest responsible bidder returned $349,544; with a 10% contingency the contract value is $384,498.40, about $15,500 under the engineer's estimate.
"The bid came back at $349,544 plus a 10% contingency for an overall of $384,498.40," Tietz said, and recommended the council approve the award. Council members approved the motion and adopted Resolution 2026-49 to award the contract. Staff noted the wider Willowbrook Fields program has an overall budget and estimated remaining project balance after awards.
The vote came after a staff presentation that recapped prior council approvals and consultant solicitation (SRF Consulting Group). Tietz said the contractor demonstrated the necessary qualifications and a cost-competitive proposal. The council then moved on to related park items, including later approvals for added shade features for the same project.
