Members identified open questions the subcommittee must resolve before regularized reporting can begin: which agencies are required to submit data, whether memoranda of understanding (MOUs) are needed, how to transfer de-identified but linkable data to avoid duplicate counting, and what minimum data fields are most useful. The chair listed categories currently in the statute — "gender, ***, age, ZIP code" — and said the group is developing a more comprehensive 'wish list' of metrics to request from agencies. Committee staff reported a meeting with the attorney general's office and Bill Souza, who runs the UNLV center, is scheduled to advance those technical and legal questions.
Members agreed the work will require outreach to law enforcement, task forces and other agencies to determine capacity and willingness to share data; the chair will circulate the statutory reporting language and the comprehensive data list to the group.
