Auditors give Sherwood SD 88J a clean opinion and find no federal noncompliance

Tara Camp, the district’s financial statement auditor, told the Sherwood SD 88J finance committee that auditors issued “an unmodified opinion on the financial statements, and that is a clean opinion with no reservations.” The audit also found no instances of noncompliance for federal awards and produced no separate management letter.
Camp said the audit is threefold — a financial statement audit, the Oregon minimum standards compliance audit and the federal single audit — and that the district’s results were “excellent.” She noted one item in the state minimum standards report and pointed members to the audit report detail; otherwise, she said the district did well preparing for the audit and staff were cooperative throughout the process.
Committee members praised the finance team’s work over the past three years, describing the clean opinion as part of a continuing trend of improvement. Gary Bennett, the district’s CFO, said the committee’s annual deeper review helps provide accountability and that the committee will present highlights to the full board next month.
