During the meeting staff explained the micropurchase threshold certification that auditors recommend the board set annually to document that the district may use its micro-purchasing process for purchases below the threshold. Earl explained that with an approved threshold the district can make purchases under $50,000 without a formal RFP while still seeking multiple bids and ensuring procurement best practices.
“Just, our auditors saying you should have to set an annual meeting every year,” Earl said, describing the certification as an auditor recommendation to keep procurement documentation current. A board member moved to approve the annual self-certification for micropurchases and the motion was included in later formal actions.
