Design contract signed for Skaters Cabin as fundraising nears target

The Director reported that fundraising for the Skaters Cabin match grant is close to the target and that the department signed a contract last week with a design firm that uses insulated SIP panels. "I signed a contract last week to get designs made for it," the Director said, and she added that the contractor has advanced the designs to roughly 65 percent.
Design work includes foundation recommendations, outlet placement, two doors and a covered front deck; the plans are intentionally simple to mirror the prior cabin but with some improvements (lighting and a wraparound deck). The Director said the contractor has been helpful on environmental review and foundation selection, and that the city will present the finished plans to the commission for review before construction.
