The Village of Woodstock approved a $1,805,116.18 budget for fiscal year 2027 at the March 17 town meeting, with up to $839,547.40 to be raised by taxation. Village Manager Eric Duffy outlined the budget and said FY2027 represents a 13% increase from FY2026, resulting in an estimated 9.9% tax increase for village residents — about $275.20 per $100,000 of appraised value.
Duffy described several line items that drove the increase: a police budget of roughly $1,163,738.03, new allocations for upcoming police union negotiations, moving vehicle payments from capital reserves into operating budgets under five-year contracts, and higher operating costs for the parking-meter system (budgeted expenses rise while projected meter revenue is expected to increase to about $200,000). Duffy said the trustees and finance office reviewed department templates and public budget meetings informed the trustees’ recommendations. After discussion, the budget was put to a voice vote and carried.
"FY '27 budget is a 13% increase overall from the FY '26 budget," Eric Duffy, village manager, said during his presentation. "That's about 275 dollars and 20 cents per $100,000 appraisal on your house."
