The commission voted to certify preliminary fire-rescue assessment rates for fiscal year 2027 and scheduled a final public hearing for Sept. 14. Budget officer Heidi Brock said the rates were based on a recent Stantec analysis designed to address rising personnel and equipment costs; she told the commission that residential assessments would rise from $333.84 to $344.96 under the proposed schedule.
Brock emphasized the assessment supports fire suppression, rescue operations and prevention and that nothing will be final until the Sept. 14 hearing. Commissioners accepted the recommendation to certify the rates for the county TRIM mailing and directed staff to include a public-awareness campaign prior to the hearings. The commission approved the resolution to certify the preliminary assessment.
