Committee drops mechanical bull, approves more children's attractions for VilleFest

VilleFest staff recommended against the mechanical bull this year because of setup constraints and its primary appeal to adults, and the committee voted to add more attractions focused on children.
"Staff does recommend tabling the mechanical bull this year just due to a few logistical concerns," said Lily Morgan, the staff liaison. Morgan told the committee that the attractions vendor'quote "does go up to $12,488.55" if three additional children's attractions and attendant hours are added. Committee member Michelle McDonald moved to approve a not-to-exceed $12,500 allocation for the added attractions and the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The change increases the festival's attractions to nine and is intended to provide more value for the $10 wristband sold to families.
The committee left the mechanical bull on the radar for future festivals, saying the adult-oriented ride may be reconsidered when logistics and timing better align with attendee hours. Staff will proceed with vendor deposits and update wristband sales plans accordingly.
