Mayor Joni Harris used a point of privilege to address the publication of an internal January 9 email about a Kechi Police Department Facebook post. Harris said the email was addressed to City Administrator Gensby and was not sent to Chief Moore; she added that Gensby replied and indicated he had no concerns. "I did not send the email nor a copy of it to Chief Moore," Harris said, and pointed to the administrator's employment contract language that personnel matters are managed through the administrator.
Harris said she would post mayoral vision documents to her mayoral Facebook page for transparency and reiterated a commitment to work respectfully with city staff. Council members did not take formal action on the personnel matter during the meeting.
