Public Works Director Thomas Bevin gave a year-end and winter-preparation report, noting the department produced about 9,500 gallons of brine to pretreat roads and purchased an eight-foot plow blade for a skid steer to supplement aging equipment. Bevin said crews will prioritize main roads and emergency routes before neighborhoods.
"Usually we try to take care of the main roads first," Bevin said when asked about priority. He encouraged residents to move vehicles off the street to aid plowing and suggested the city post an emergency route map to clarify priorities for residents. Bevin noted staffing challenges and the need to hire seasonal help before summer.
