Residents and council question park board process and a possible sole-source playground vendor

City Administrator Denson said the park board conducted interviews and will be bringing Play By Design as its recommendation to council. "They will be bringing Play By Design," Denson said. He and other staff said no contracts have been signed and that the park board sought considerable community input during vendor interviews. Several council members and residents asked staff to provide the underlying bid materials and minutes so the council and public can compare proposals and confirm that purchasing rules were followed.
Speakers pushed staff to clarify the purchasing policy's sole-source parameters and to publish or provide park board minutes and the proposals used to vet vendors. Council asked for the item to be scheduled or discussed at the next regular meeting so the body can decide publicly on any exception to standard procurement procedures.
