City administrator Denson presented the budgeted 2026 patrol car replacement and said the purchase was included in the 2026 budget. "This purchase was approved in the 2026 budget," Denson told council.
Council members pressed for clarification on which vehicles would be traded in or retired. Staff said unit 2018 will be mothballed and later sold on Purple Wave once the fleet is stabilized; the 2020 unit will remain in service. After discussion, Council President Hedstrom moved to approve the replacement and Council Member Baldridge seconded; the motion passed 4-0.
Council requested that staff return with clearer documentation reconciling workshop materials and the approved capital improvement plan so residents can see the fleet plan and the timing of retirements and sales.
