The Vernonia SD 47J Board approved three action items at its January meeting, moving the district to a new audit firm and ratifying the district's service and policy decisions.
Board members voted to change the district's auditor of record from Polly Rogers & Co. to ClearTrail CPAs LLC after a staff recommendation. "I move to change the VST auditor of record from Holly Rogers and Co. to ClearTrail CPA LLC as discussed," said a board member (speaker 6) when making the motion; Chair (speaker 2) then called for the vote: "All those in favor, say aye." The motion carried by voice vote.
The board also voted to approve the Northwest Regional ESD 2025'026 local service plan, which continues the district's contractual participation in regional services (special education supports, instructional coaching, Medicaid reimbursement assistance and other ESD-provided programs). A separate voice vote approved policy updates presented for a second reading.
According to the business manager (speaker 9), the auditor change follows consultation and a recommendation intended to preserve continuity with audit staff during a transition in the auditors' organization. Board action on the ESD plan confirms the district's continued use of regional service credits and specialists for functions the district does not staff internally.
The board took the votes in sequence and approved routine consent items (including the December 12 meeting minutes) before adjourning at 8:13 p.m.
