Travis, the presenter for the applicant, explained the owner would not mount a bracket on the brick facade and that the chosen position over a garden provided the best visibility. "We are proposing to have the projection sign installed with a clearance of approximately 7 feet from the bottom of the sign to the grade," Travis said, noting the ownerpreferences and design proof.
Board members discussed safety rationales for the usual 10-foot clearance (head clearance, vehicle clearance, vandalism) and confirmed the site sits above a garden area rather than a public walkway. After questions and clarification, the board made a motion to recommend approval of the special permit to the Planning Board; the recommendation passed.
