The Tangipahoa Parish Council on July 27 adopted TP Ordinance 2620, temporarily exempting the parish’s one‑cent sales tax on purchases of firearms, ammunition and hunting supplies during the state’s Second Amendment Weekend sales‑tax holiday set for Sept. 4–6, 2026.
A motion to adopt TP 2620 was made and seconded and carried by roll call. No public opposition to the ordinance was recorded at the meeting. The ordinance aligns the parish tax policy with the state‑declared holiday and was approved by a majority of council members present.
