Planning board members raised water-supply protection as one of four priority areas and referenced consultant work by WSP and hydrologist Tom Cusack. "We have had some extensive water studies that were undertaken and some additional analysis through the village's actual consultant, WSP, and Tom Cusack that I think have really uncovered some opportunities for us to think more long term around how we protect our water supply," Planning Board Chair Amy Friskey said.
A board member suggested identifying a secondary well site—citing tests that produced about 250,000 gallons per day—as a way to rest primary wells during repair and reduce system risk. Attendees agreed protection strategies would require technical experts and likely zoning or designation tools such as a critical-environmental-area overlay tailored to the village’s wells.
