The Paulding County Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously July 28 to recommend rezoning two tracts totaling about 10 acres on Mulberry Rock Road from A1 agricultural to R2 suburban residential to allow three additional single-family homes.
Staff told the commission the property (listed in Land Lots 42 and 223) and addresses including 45722 Mulberry Rock Road and 235 Family Path were suitable for the proposed subdivision and recommended approval. Applicant Brian Maddox said the rezoning is intended to regularize family land use so his sons and extended family can build homes. "We're trying to get it in compliance," Maddox said, describing one existing house on the site and plans for his sons to build additional homes.
Commission members asked how the rear lots would obtain road frontage; Maddox said access would come via an easement off his driveway or Family Path. There was no public opposition during the hearing. Following a motion and second, the commission approved the recommendation to forward the rezoning to the Board of Commissioners.
