First reading of comprehensive safety plan flags tabletop drills and new compliance items

District staff gave a first reading of the annual Comprehensive School Safety Plan and described recent tabletop exercises and site updates. Staff reported they have updated emergency bags, site maps and ICS forms, and have conducted tabletop exercises with Healdsburg Police Department (HPD); a reunification plan with the city is also under discussion.
Presenters listed bills that require Plan changes or new documentation: AB 2968 (fire‑hazard zones in evacuation procedures), SB 1248 (standardized outdoor activity temperature thresholds), AB 3216 (phone‑free school guidance) and staff training on LGBTQ‑related requirements. Staff said sites are not located in high fire‑hazard zones though Fitch Mountain Campus comes close; they also said SB 1248 guidance has been implemented operationally but that written procedures remain to be finalized in the Plan. Trustees asked about the status of maps and drills and were told final Plan updates will return in February for adoption.
