Superintendent previews six‑year strategic plan draft, board gives feedback on goals

Superintendent Venuevo told trustees the district has collected more than 1,000 personal comments, held two community town halls (about 50 people each) and nearly 10 focus groups to shape a draft six‑year strategic plan aligned with two LCAP cycles.

Tiffany (staff member) walked the board through the plan's four cross‑cutting strands—learning, belonging, partnerships and civic engagement—and said the draft consolidates community input into roughly 65 key ideas that were organized into three goal lines. The plan's curriculum and programs goal emphasizes aligned instruction from TK–12, the bridging cultures goal focuses on multilingual pathways and cultural competence, and support systems include MTSS/PLC work, inclusion and wellness goals.

Trustees asked specifically about measurables and cautioned that setting realistic metrics can be difficult; one trustee noted that other districts sometimes publish five‑year goals without detailed, credible metrics. Tiffany and staff acknowledged those concerns and said district leadership will develop specific, subgroup‑level metrics and return to the board with measurable targets and timelines in June. The superintendent said the district will run at least 20 LCAP engagement sessions over the coming three months to refine actions and measurables and then return with a plan and implementation milestones.
