Two candidates for Wasco County Commissioner appeared at the Maupin meeting to introduce themselves and hear local concerns.
Nicole Biechler of The Dalles said she is running for Wasco County Commissioner Position 1 and noted county experience, including a former role as Human Resources Director and current work as the county Business Manager. "I am a 4th generation Wasco County resident," Biechler said while introducing her campaign and interest in local issues.
Lisa Gambee, who served as Wasco County Clerk for nine-and-a-half years and lives in Tygh Valley, said she is researching how solar project revenue is allocated to the county and emphasized priorities including community resilience to wildfire risk and securing grants for water and sewer infrastructure. Mayor Carol Beatty thanked county officials for outreach and said she hopes elected county leaders will remain active in the community.
Both candidates said they would continue to engage with Maupin if elected; no endorsements or formal county actions were taken at the council meeting.
