Maupin council adopts Emergency Operations Plan after correcting evacuation route

Councilor Shelby Dumire moved "to accept Maupin's Emergency Operations Plan with correction to remove evacuation route, South on 197 to Upper River Access Road/BLM Access Road West," and Councilor Randy Bechtol seconded; the motion passed 7-0.
Mayor Carol Beatty and City Manager Nick Smith said the plan is Maupin’s playbook for preparing, responding and recovering from emergencies and emphasized the importance of clarifying roles for staff, public works and the fire department. Council discussion highlighted priority resources (power backup and water), communications (radio), and the likely shelter location at the school; the correction removes a listed route that would have used a locked gate and no egress.
