Board reviews schematic designs for 6th‑grade additions at middle schools

He said most sites will receive four-classroom additions and cafeteria expansions; Jacobs Fork's addition is about "4,725 total square feet" while another site is planned as a "6,610 total square foot" addition. For Mill Creek, Westmoreland described a larger two-story option with an elevator and roughly 24,000 square feet across both floors to address projected growth.
Westmoreland noted the plan reductions from earlier, larger schemes were intended to free budget capacity for mechanical-system replacements (chillers, boilers) and athletic-facility upgrades such as permanent restrooms, rather than temporary porta‑potties. He also described phasing challenges and the need to coordinate access roads and hydrants to meet code.
Board members asked about enrollment and utility connections; Westmoreland said the designs were coordinated with the McKissick study and county construction staff and promised architects will present renderings at next month's meeting before schematic approval.
