LPS highlights career and technical student organizations and new educator pathway

Dr. Jason Thompson, career and technical education curriculum specialist for Lincoln Public Schools, summarized district CTSOs and an expanding education pathway.
“These sponsors and these, students work really hard. They are year round,” Thompson said, describing CTSOs such as FBLA, DECA, HOSA, SkillsUSA, FFA, FCCLA and Educators Rising. He explained many CTSOs are tied to specific classes and therefore enrollment depends on course offerings; for example, FFA enrollment is largely at TCA where ag courses are concentrated.
Thompson said the district has 67 students currently in Educators Rising and will introduce a 0.333 course in the education pathway next year to help grow that program. He emphasized community partnerships and volunteer judges and mentors as critical supports for CTSO competitions and leadership events.
