Sheboygan approves easements and a design addendum for South Side interceptor project

The committee approved accepting easements (expected at no cost) and an addendum to a design contract to enable installation of a new South Side interceptor to serve the Gartman development and southwest Sheboygan.
Engineer Jump briefed the committee that two related agenda items would authorize acceptance of easements and a memorandum of understanding to allow the city to construct and maintain sanitary sewer for the South Side interceptor, and that staff expects the easements to be provided at no cost.
Jump said the interceptor alignment will generally run adjacent to Lakeshore Drive on utility property (not directly beneath the road) and through a utility corridor south of the Alliant power plant. He told alderpersons the easements are needed to extend sewer service to the southwest portion of the city, including the Gartman development. The committee also approved an addendum to the Fultz Infrastructure & Environment LLC contract to finalize design and produce bid-ready documents for the rehabilitation and shoreline protection elements of the project.
Members asked a technical question about map reading and routing; Jump confirmed that the sewer will be off Lakeshore Drive on utility property rather than beneath the street. Both the easement actions and the Fultz design addendum were approved by motion and unanimous voice vote.
