Staff updated the commission on the Port-funded 'Welcome to Our District' program, which includes a downtown public-art plan, an artist roster, and approximately $65,000 for activation projects in Bothell's downtown.
"The total budget for art activations [is] about $65,000," staff stated and described planned activations including window art, vinyl banner wraps, ground stickers with QR codes, and pole banners on Bothell Way/Main Street. Staff said the roster call for visual artists is live on the city's platform and that the applicant deadline is July 31.
The commission discussed using the newly city-owned Gallo De Oro building as an activation site and asked staff to solicit artist proposals; staff said three artists are being asked to propose designs and the commission will later review recommendations for placement at that site.
