New Tri Cities survey: 92.1% of Hermosa students would recommend their schools, staff say

Hermosa Beach City School District staff presented the district's new Tri Cities survey at the Dec. 11 board meeting, reporting improved measures of sense of belonging and student relationships.
Sylvia Gluck, who led the presentation, said the survey—piloted this fall across the three Beach Cities districts—found that 92.1% of Hermosa students said they would recommend their schools. "Would you recommend Hermosa schools to your friends?" she asked the board, then cited the 92.1 percent favorable response.
Gluck walked trustees through grade-level breakdowns and noted areas for attention: 3rd-grade students reported lower fairness scores and the district saw lower responses on interacting with diverse peers, which she attributed in part to the district's demographic makeup. Staff said they will review results with principals, use the data as a baseline for LCAP goals and retake the survey in January.
