Town Meeting TV presents programming data and seeks sustained municipal support as cable revenues decline

Jordan Mitchell, co‑director of Town Meeting TV, and Megan O’Rourke (CCTV) briefed the council on programming and a municipal funding request. Mitchell said Town Meeting TV produced 1,519 programs across its member communities last year, 377 of which were municipal programs, and that the contractor covered 38 Essex Junction municipal meetings. “We submitted our FY26 budget materials; Town Meeting TV had produced and supported 1,519 programs for all of the member communities,” Mitchell said.
Presenters told the council that cable‑subscriber revenue has declined and that the organization is pursuing a mix of legislative support, fee‑for‑service work, and municipal contributions to stabilize operations. They noted the Vermont Access Network has received base state funding to help public access centers and that CCTV is continuing to diversify revenue. Councilors thanked the group for continued service and the council will consider the municipal contribution during budget discussions.
