Park Board approves memorial pavilion; pool work and skatepark revitalization set to continue

Councilmember Golden reported Park Board actions including approval of a memorial pavilion at McDonald Park funded fully by the Russel 'Butch' Anderson Memorial Fund. Golden said Butch’s son, Bill Anderson, will purchase and donate a basalt table for the pavilion.
Golden also reported pool construction progress: concrete pouring is ongoing, after which the pool structure will be cleaned and the liner placed, followed by fence work and landscaping targeting readiness for the 2026 swim season. Golden said the skatepark revitalization is scheduled to begin Sept. 29, with a church group providing 70 volunteers to assist with city projects.
