Council sets Sept. 15 public hearing to consider vacating portion of Mill Street

At the Aug. 4 Colfax City Council meeting, Building and Community Development official Shawn McSweeney told the council a garage currently occupies the segment of Mill Street under consideration and that the parcel lies between Cooper Street and the flood control channel. McSweeney said the city intends to retain easements for utilities even if the street vacation proceeds.
Council approved Resolution 25-14 to set a public hearing for Sept. 15, 2025, to take public comment on vacating the portion of Mill Street. The motion was made by Golden and seconded by Schaefer and carried on a unanimous roll-call vote among members present.
