Council accepts Tree City Committee minutes; planning commission hears arborist on street‑tree inventory and ash borer risks

The Rogue River City Council accepted the Sept. 11, 2025 Tree City Committee minutes on Sept. 25 after a procedural motion and unanimous vote. Councilor Mark Minegar moved to consider acceptance and Councilor Barb Gregory seconded the revised motion that was approved.
Separately, Planning Commission liaison Barb Gregory told the council the commission received conflict and bias training and heard a presentation from certified arborist Mike Oxendine on creating an inventory of street trees and updating the tree ordinance. Gregory raised concern that the emerald ash borer is now in Oregon and said that if any street trees are in the ash family they should be replaced. She also provided a planning update noting 13 permits issued and 4 planning applications filed since July 2025.
