Board member says student-body accounts are being cleaned up; some line items still under review

Board member Amy (speaker 9) reported on work to reconcile student-body accounts and said the district is consolidating many small line items. "The athletic fund is at over $5,000. The middle school student body account is at over $19,000," she said, noting a separate line labeled 'student body' showed a negative balance of about $8,000 and an 'unclassified' line at about -$649 that are under investigation.
Amy said the review has reduced the number of line items and is helping identify funds that can be returned to students and teachers for classroom uses, including as much as ~$6,000 identified for art. Finance staff will continue to reconcile bank fees and unclassified items and return an updated report to the board for further review.
