Superintendent outlines 100-day priorities, interim principals and bond timeline

Dr. Wilds delivered a 100-day report describing meetings with parents, teachers and community leaders and laying out early district priorities. She said the listening process surfaced six main themes including a need for stronger on-campus administrative support and more consistent Tier 1 instruction. "One of the number one concerns I heard going out was the need for increased administrator support," Dr. Wilds said, and the district has already placed an interim principal at Hermosa View and moved to a full-time assistant principal at Hermosa Valley.

Dr. Wilds also described changes to instructional strategy and spending: staff will reallocate funds away from practices not supported by current literacy research and pause some contracted professional development to protect teachers' classroom time. She previewed bond planning steps, saying RFQs for architects are due March 5, interviews will be held March 14, and the board will hold a workshop on March 26 to discuss project prioritization. "Our goal is to actually have two architects that we settle on, a primary and a secondary," she said, adding the district is also pursuing available state funding and improving the bond website to publish RFQs, proposals and oversight materials.
