Board outlines timeline for retail alcohol product-placement rule; effective date delayed to 2027

Policy staff told the board public comment on the retail alcohol product-placement draft closed Jan. 16 and that they received feedback from industry representatives and follow-up meetings with stakeholders. Kevin Walder said staff have revised the draft based on input and expect to begin the economic analysis by March 1, a process which may take about three months and would position the rule for a CR102 filing this summer.
Walder also said the board plans to delay the rule's effective date until 2027 if adopted, giving businesses more time to make operational changes. "Once adopted, we plan to delay the effective date, of the rules until 2027 to give businesses adequate time to make, necessary adjustments," Walder said. Staff will return with economic analysis and a CR102 as scheduled.
