The recommended contract is a two-year term with up to three 1-year extensions and includes emergency response and non-emergency response time expectations as part of the RFP evaluation.
Jackson DuMont said the contract will have a not-to-exceed amount of $75,000 per year and that the city does not plan to spend that full total unless needed for capital projects. He noted last year's on-call electrical spend was about $26,000 and the higher limit reflects increased anticipated usage for large capital projects. Councilors asked about guaranteed response times; DuMont confirmed emergency-response and non-emergency-response expectations were part of the RFP and scoring.
A motion to approve the agreement and authorize the city manager to execute the contract passed with no nays. The city manager will assign invoices to the relevant department (for example, water-department costs charged to the water budget) and staff will monitor usage relative to the not-to-exceed limit.
