County reports strong digital-equity uptake; staff say state reimbursements are current

Andre presented survey results from the county’s digital equity pilot and described planned next steps. He said 34 of 39 participants completed the second survey and reported wide program use for schoolwork, telehealth and employment. "81% said they use the Internet multiple times a day," Andre said, and he reported that 97% said they would lose or struggle to maintain Internet if they were not able to participate in the program.
On finances, Andre told the committee the county has been "pretty much fully reimbursed by the state of Illinois," citing a recent approval email for the last month’s submission to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. He told members the pilot has spent about $25,000 so far of a $125,000 award, with average payments for the 39 participants a little over $1,100 a month. Staff said they will consider expanding the pilot and will bring any amendments back to the board for review.
