Julie Santor presented a request to add a protective polyurethane maintenance coat to the newly repoured multipurpose floor, saying the coat will make cleaning easier and extend the life of the floor. The recent repour cost approximately $150,000; the protective coating is estimated at $32,000 and industry guidance recommends reapplication roughly every seven years.
Staff said a three-year wear warranty exists for the top coat and that the city has sufficient fund balance to cover the unbudgeted $32,000 expense. Council approved resolution 26-81 to apply the coating; the vote carried with one recorded "no."
