Commission on Aging reports senior millage served 8,546 older residents and nearly 1.2 million service units in 2025

Jason Berry, community planning and engagement director, presented the Monroe County Commission on Aging 2025 annual report and described program reach, service units and outreach efforts. "In 2025, the senior millage supported 8,546 unduplicated Monroe County residents age 60, of age and older," he said, and noted the millage had a 77.22% approval when passed in 2024 for a 10-year term. Berry described 32 programs delivered by 19 agencies and said staff processed nearly 1,200,000 service claims (units) that include rides, pounds of food, and hours of senior-center activity.

Berry highlighted outreach in the county's southwest, distribution of senior-source postcards to 3,079 households, partnerships with local food pantries and meal providers, expansion of an enhanced fitness program at the Monroe YMCA, and the Bedford Health Van's expanded service to nonmedical daily activities. He said the Bedford Health Van (funding just under $60,000) served 148 unduplicated people in a spread across Lambertville, Temperance, Monroe, Petersburg and other locales. Commissioners asked for a central phone number for transportation assistance; Berry said callers can use the county main line and staff will refer them to the best provider.

The board accepted the presentation and moved forward with program oversight and outreach plans; no board action to change funding was taken at the meeting.
