The Tangipahoa Parish School Board voted to contract with the Plexus Group for disaster-management consulting and FEMA-claims support following staff scoring of six proposals.
Administration said the pool of proposals was strong and the final decision came down to the top two firms; the board recommended Plexus Group for its size, claims experience, and lower rates. "They have all the resources in place that we need in or if we have a disaster," procurement staff said, recommending a multi-year engagement and noting the firm’s project manager is from Tangipahoa Parish. Board members asked for clarity on the firm’s role (pre-position contractor, task orders, assistance with RFQs/RFPs and FEMA reimbursements); staff said Plexus would hold the district’s hand through FEMA processes and issue task orders when needed.
The board approved the recommendation by roll call. Staff said the contract is intended to provide on-call consulting and emergency project-management capacity rather than to replace contractors currently closing out prior claims.
