Yachats nearing completion of 14-year wetlands inventory, council president says

Nicole Hedwin said the council reviewed a rough draft of a wetlands inventory prepared by a consultant who has been mapping properties around Yachats to identify possible wetlands. "We've been working on this, I think, for 14 years and we're getting really close to having our wetlands inventory done," Hedwin said.
Hedwin explained the inventory will indicate where areas should not be developed or, if development proceeds, what mitigation or special measures would be needed. She described the map as a tool to encourage sustainable development and better management of natural resources in and around Yachats.
