Woodburn celebrates All-America City honor, credits community projects and civic partnerships

Woodburn Mayor opened the July 14 meeting by announcing the city had received an All-America City award from the National Civic League and credited a broad team of staff, volunteers and student presenters for the distinction.
"We are an all American city," the mayor said, calling the award a national recognition of programs and trust built across the community. He noted Woodburn was one of 10 cities selected and the only winner west of Texas this year.
The council recognized student performers who presented in Denver and community leaders—from arts and mural committee members to school and college representatives—who prepared the city's application. Councilor Mark Wilk introduced Maria Elena Guerra and other local contributors involved in the application and presentation.
Mayor also highlighted partnerships with Marion County and regional organizations, saying county help had included signage and a $250,000 economic development grant for Suttlemeyer Park. He said the recognition opens opportunities to collaborate with the National Civic League on future projects.
The council did not take formal policy action related to the award; the mayor said the recognition was a catalyst for continued promotion of Woodburn's cultural and civic programs and promised increased visibility and banners in coming months.
