The Select Board voted to proceed with MSK engineers as the preferred firm to deliver two water‑system projects known as Option 1b: drilling a replacement well and installing a new water main from Route 12 to the Recreation Center bridge. Staff said all three finalist firms performed well in interviews but MSK scored highest on experience, project understanding and team strength.
Town staff explained the procurement approach used a qualifications‑based selection (RFQ/interviews) and that the detailed project cost will be negotiated with MSK before the firm returns with a contract for board ratification. "We will enter a conversation with them to finish up the scope of work, finish up the project cost, and then bring forward a contract to the select board for ratification sometime soon," staff said. The firms suggested similar timelines, and staff noted a target to complete construction by December 2027. Peter Shoemaker and other residents questioned why final dollar amounts were not included at selection; staff said cost proposals will follow scope finalization.
